Lead Kitchen Exhaust Cleaning Technician
$35/hour · Overnight Shifts · Experience Required · Dallas-Fort Worth
HOODZ of Central Texas is looking for an experienced Lead Kitchen Exhaust Cleaning Technician to join our Dallas–Fort Worth team.
We provide commercial kitchen exhaust cleaning and maintenance for restaurants and commercial kitchens across Texas. Our work is about more than making equipment look clean - it is about properly maintaining the entire exhaust system and reducing the fire hazard created by grease accumulation.
This is a working Lead position for someone who already knows the trade, can work independently, and is ready to take responsibility for the quality and completion of the jobs assigned to them.
The Bar
Kitchen exhaust cleaning experience is required.
We are looking for someone who takes ownership of their work and understands that good enough is not good enough when the job is protecting a customer's business and reducing a fire hazard.
This role is measured by results, not effort or intent - and that covers the whole job, not just your own hands-on work. Passing means the job holds up: no callback, no rework, code-compliant on the first pass - and a Helper who is actually improving under your direction, not just present. The HOODZ standard is the standard. We are not looking for someone who decides to do things their own way because they believe it is better. We need someone who can follow an established process, recognize when the work is not meeting the standard, and correct it without being told.
You should be the type of person who:
- Notices problems before the customer does
- Takes responsibility for the finished job
- Does not cut corners when a job becomes difficult
- Can make good decisions without constant supervision
- Accepts accountability and coaching
- Leads by example rather than simply giving instructions
- Takes pride in leaving a job properly completed
If your instinct when something goes wrong is to explain why it wasn't your fault, this is probably not the right position.
What Makes This a Lead Position
The Lead Technician is responsible for the overall outcome and completion of the jobs assigned to their team and the development of their team.
You will:
- Perform hands-on commercial kitchen exhaust cleaning
- Lead and develop the technician working with you
- Set the pace and expectations for the job
- Ensure the work is completed thoroughly and according to HOODZ standards
- Inspect the finished work and correct deficiencies before leaving
- Communicate professionally with customers and management
- Make decisions and solve problems in the field
- Maintain safe work practices and proper care of company equipment and vehicles
- Complete required job documentation and photos
This is not a supervisory position where you stand back and watch someone else do the work. You will be expected to work alongside your team while leading, teaching, and taking responsibility for the final result.
Requirements
- Previous commercial kitchen exhaust cleaning experience required
- Valid, non-expired driver's license with at least 3 years of driving history
- DPS driving record will be requested upon hire
- Ability to pass required pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check, consistent with applicable law
- Reliable attendance and availability for overnight work
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds repeatedly and perform strenuous physical work for extended periods
- Comfortable working on ladders, rooftops, elevated surfaces, confined/tight-access areas, and in hot, wet, greasy environments
