Hi! We are Brad and Kari, the owners of HOODZ of Central Iowa. We are glad you're here. We are growing HOODZ to be the largest and best kitchen exhaust cleaning company in Iowa with the best people and the latest tools and technology.

We are looking for high performers to join us. The Apprentice/Spray Technician job is physically demanding and overnight. Stamina and enthusiasm are required!

You do not need to have experience with cleaning kitchen exhaust systems. Our team will train you on everything you need to know to clean a hood system, so you can thrive and be an integral part of the overall success of our company.

 The Job:

  • Responsible for removing all grease from kitchen exhaust hoods, ducts, and fans using high pressure hot water, chemicals, and manual scraping
  • Polish the hood so it shines after the grease is removed
  • Leave the customer's kitchen cleaner than when you arrived
  • Work as a team with one to two other technicians
  • Work overnight Monday through Thursday
  • Drive to multiple job sites throughout the night
  • Install hinges, grease containment systems, and access panels
  • Use an app to document each job with pictures and notes
  • Keep your tools and van clean and organized after every job
  • Solve issues by implementing what you learned in training, referring to process, and collaborating with other technicians


Requirements:

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Be nice! I know, we shouldn't have to say that, but we mean it
  • Able to bend, climb, kneel and stand for long periods
  • Physically able to lift 50lbs
  • Willingness to use a 24 foot extension ladder to access rooftops
  • Willingness to go onto tall roofs to complete jobs
  • Valid driver's license for at lest 3 years with a clean driving record
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check
  • Ability to learn how to use basic apps for documenting and navigating to jobs
  • Willingness to work hard and follow processes and procedures
  • Basic reading skills
  • Eligible to legally work in the United States


The Journey to Spray Technician:

  • Our 3-month apprenticeship program provides hands on training from top technicians.
  • During the first two weeks you will focuses on learning the basic anatomy of a kitchen exhaust system, be introduced to the tricks of the trade for cleaning the systems, and learn about our company policies and quality expectations.
  • The following ten weeks provides you time to hone your newly learned skills in a supportive environment focused on your success. Learning the basics is easy. Mastering the skill takes time.
  • You will receive regular feedback on your successes and areas of focus to help you succeed.
  • Once you complete the apprenticeship and pass all knowledge tests, you graduate to a spray technician and become eligible for weekly bonuses


Compensation:

  • Up to $25 per hour after weekly bonuses
